This Watermelon Salad is a cool and refreshing summer salad recipe passed down to us from one of our family members, Tania, who live in Italy.

This Mediterranean salad is easy to make and delicious to eat and combines sweet fruit and veggies and the salty flavor from the feta cheese. Mix it all together and you have a wonderful Summer meal!

I love watermelon and if you like it too then you will love this salad. It is easy to make, quick to prepare and your family will love it. They will be asking you to make it over and over again.

Watermelon Feta Salad

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. It's that easy, and you can easily double or triple this salad recipe.

Drizzle with the desired amount of your favorite balsamic dressing. You can also make your own vinaigrette by combining 1 part olive oil, 1 part balsamic vinegar, a splash of lemon juice, and salt & pepper to taste.

Toss gently and serve cold. Enjoy!

  • 1 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 watermelon, chopped into bite size pieces

  1. Mix lime juice into the red onions and leave for 1/2 hour in the fridge. The onions will turn a vivid pink.
  2. Add all other ingredients and mix well. Season to taste with salt and pepper, then serve immediately.

Cook's tip

If the lime juice makes the taste too sharp, add 1 teaspoon of brown sugar to calm it down.

This watermelon salad with feta and mint is so simple and easy to make. You only need a few ingredients to prepare this recipe!

This salad is made with ripe watermelon, feta cheese, arugula, baby spinach, blueberries and fresh mint leaves.

First, cut the watermelon in small cubes. You can cut feta in cubes too or add crumbled feta cheese, and sprinkle all into a large bowl.

Next, cut the fresh mint into pieces. Then, add arugula, spinach and blueberries, and toss salad ingredients in the bowl.

Mediterranean Watermelon Salad with Feta, Mint and Lemon-Sumac dressing. This perfect party salad is easy to put together, and is bursting with tasty refreshing, sweet and sour flavors of watermelon, feta, mint and a Lemon Sumac dressing. Pure bonus is pretty colors of red, white and green making a great presentation.

Overall, this Watermelon Salad recipe is special for two reasons:

  1. The sweet and sour flavor.
  2. Bold and delicious Mediterranean Watermelon Salad Dressing. Seriously, dressing is so good! It goes great with any sweet fruit salad!

Oh, I'm also sharing tested and proven trick to save Watermelon Salad from getting soggy sitting in it's own juice. (read on to know more)


Allow me to introduce you to delicious combination of sweet watermelon, with lemon and salty feta cheese. Today, this combination inspired me to give you this Mediterranean Watermelon Salad recipe. I flavor the Watermelon Salad dressing with citrus-y sumac and earthy oregano. Really, these two ingredients take already fab Watermelon Salad to fabulous! Plus the addition of Mediterranean-favorite feta cheese and olives bring the quintessential salty flavor in this sweet fruit salad.

A good tasty salad starts with two important component: 1) Fresh and good quality ingredients. 2) A bold Salad Dressing.

Salad such as this Fruit Salad needs only a few ingredients.

To give Lemon Dressing extra punch of flavor, I use Mediterranean-favorite citrus-y Sumac, Oregano with Lemon Juice, Olive Oil, Salt and chili flakes.

These few ingredients make a delicious pack-a-punch bold dressing which goes very good with sweet watermelon, and salty feta cheese.

To make the salad, I simply dice the watermelon fruit. (I use seedless watermelon for this salad as it is easy to just cut and dice. No need to worry about seeds.) Dice the feta and chop the olives.

To make the Watermelon Salad dressing, I mix together lemon juice, sumac, olive oil, chili flakes and oregano until emulsified.

That's it! Mix dressing with watermelon and feta. Add chopped olives and julienne mint. Refreshing Summer Fruit Salad is ready to devour!


If you prefer, you can also replace mint with fresh basil. The sharp flavor of sweet or even Thai basil goes good with Watermelon. On a side-note, even if you don't have mint or basil, this Watermelon Salad recipe will still work. Just don't skip the Lemon Sumac dressing.


Any Watermelon Salad is best when assembled just before serving. Chilled for 30 minutes. Since watermelon is so full of water. It tends to loose water when it sits longer - made-ahead or in a party/potluck salad bowl. If you need to make-ahead watermelon salad, try the following to avoid serving a soggy Watermelon Salad.

All watermelon salad will loose water when sit longer after cut and mixed with dressing. After 30 minutes you will find salad sitting in pool of water. Don't worry. There is an easy trick to avoid this.

  1. Take a piece of aluminum foil slightly larger than the size of salad bowl.
  2. Place it on bowl and make tiny holes with sharp pairing knife. Place a small bowl (1/8 of size of salad bowl) upside down at the bottom of salad bowl. Fill sides lightly with layer of ice cubes. Gently place the perforated aluminum foil on the top.
  3. Now, add the watermelon salad on top. Any water steeping from melon salad with go down the aluminum foil perforation into the ice. Watermelon will never be soggy. Layer of ice will also keep it chilled.

Friends, this season, bring home fresh Watermelon! Then try this effortless, Watermelon and Feta Salad. It is perfect on the side of Grilled Chicken Souvlaki dinner. Refreshing Watermelon and Feta Salad Recipe

Refreshing Watermelon and Feta Salad is an easy dish that you can make anytime, but particularly throughout the hot days of summer when fresh watermelons are easily available in the fruit market. You can serve it in lunch, dinner or can take it to outdoor activities like barbeque or picnic. The syrupiness of the fresh watery watermelon slices incorporate with the salty and tangy feta, breezy mint and balsamic vinaigrette in order to give birth to this refreshing to taste salad. All of the nutritious ingredients of this appetizing salad compliment each so well that it looks amazingly pretty. You can serve Refreshing Watermelon and Feta Salad as a starter dish. Otherwise, dish it up along with a light meal or healthy snack.

Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Serving Size: 04
Utensils: salad bowl, flat wooden ladle

– 2 lemons – zested and juiced
– 1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
– 2 tablespoons honey
– 1/2 teaspoon salt – kosher salt is preferred
– 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
– 1 piece (almost 4 pound) seedless watermelon – rind removed and flesh cut into 1/2-inch cubes
– 1 cup crumbled feta cheese
– 2 packed cups arugula

Pick two fresh lemons and cut them into two wedges each. Now, squeeze the juice of lemon wedges in to a large salad bowl.

Pour in ¼ cup of extra-virgin olive oil and 2 tablespoons of pure honey.

Top the lemon-olive mixture with ½ teaspoon of salt and ¼ teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper.

Note: You can increase or decrease the amount of salt, keeping your preference in mind.

Pick a medium whisk and mix the ingredients in the salad bowl until they incorporate completely and form a rich and smooth dressing.

Place the watermelon slices in the salad bowl.

Add in crumbled feta cheese and arugula
